Its actual DOCSIS, not DOCSYS.  DOCSIS stands for Data Over Cable
Service Interface Specification and was developed by CableLabs.  Here in
the triangle I know of multiple people that have had generic DOCSIS
cable modems (version 1.1 I believe) on TimeWarner's network.  I know
Linksys (now Cisco) and Cisco cable modems work, but I'm sure others
will work with no problem as well.

As far as I know, TW is still using Cisco's UBR (Universal Broadband
Router) series of CMTS' (cable modem termination system).  More
