This is a garden variety kernel panic; the keyboard lights are flashing
to let you know of the panic, in case something went wrong with the
video driver. This is the equivalent of a BSOD for Linux, and while
rare it does happen.
I'd suggest reporting this to a Mandrake 9.1 list (if they handle kernel
stuff there), or a samba list -- you've definitely encountered a real
bug somewhere.
