[TriLUG] Red Hat 9 upgrade issues

Thanks for the heads up on rpms. As it stands, I am upgrading the
OS with as few "extra" apps as possible, but this called attention to some
hardware management rpms and my TSM client software. Components of the web
applications on this server need to be compiled from source anyway because
there are libraries and extension that I need that aren't available in the
rpm versions or their respective addons/patches, e.g. OCI support for
connecting to Oracle from PHP.
The test box has ext3, but the prod box has ext2, thus the need for
deeper understanding of this process. I will read the release notes.
