At the TriLUG meeting last Thursday, Shelly Bowers-Roghelia, from the
Triangle United Way's Teaming for Technology agency (T4T), mentioned that
she is looking for help with Linux. T4T would like to install Linux on
some older Pentium-class machines to make available for school-age
children who cannot afford a computer.

To help organize this effort, we've started a mailing list at
teaming at trilug.org . Please join via the list interface if you're
interested:
        http://www.trilug.org/mailman/listinfo/teaming/

The volunteers will need to determine a Linux distribution and
configuration, based on the available hardware, and organize work days to
test, install, and configure the machines. (Space is available at the
United Way offices in Morrisville.)

The web site for Teaming for Technology is located at:
http://www.unitedwaytriangle.org/new_site/phase2/index.asp?pg=107

Thank you for your interest -- please join the mailing list. This is a
great way to fulfill the mission of TriLUG in educating the public about
Linux. Just think, if we get a lot of kids hooked on Linux at an early
age...world domination is next! Or something like that. :-)

Thanks,

Jeremy Portzer
Treasurer, TriLUG Steering Committee
