[TriLUG] How to recover erased files on an OSX drive

Jim was concerned that by using another Unix system that you risk corrupting
the files you're trying to recover. When I asked him why he recommended
Norton's for OS9 (not OSX), he said that that particular program when used
with OS9 (most OSX machines allow the user to run OS9 so that older programs
can still be run) allows you to do this particular task much easier than with
other solutions. He then gave me some technical explanation which went over
my head. So if you want to discuss this, I suggest that you contact Jim
directly (I've given you his email address for just this purpose) and query
him about this topic. Yes, I own an OSX Mac Powerbook but I haven't owned it
long enough to really understand how to recover files that have been erased.
So I have to say that I'm just not competent enough to discuss this further,
except to say that Jim thinks this is the safest and easiest way to do this
particular task. He also suggested that if the guy claims he erased the
pictures, there is a real possibility that instead he just wasn't able to
FIND them in the first place. In any case, Bon Appetit, --- Al Johnson
