In a report on computer mono-culture here:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/washpost/20030926/tc_washpost/a2328_2003sep25
A MS supporting trade group came to the company's defense as follows:
<quote>
In a statement, the Computing Technology Industry Association said the report
is flawed by "myopically looking to technology (i.e., 'bad' software OS)
instead of addressing the underlying cause -- human behavior -- for cyber
breaches."
</quote>
So customer's _are_ idiots, or the enemy, depending on your viewpoint.
Puh-leaze. MS is a master of manipulating humans to buy their products. To
turn around and blame humans (customers) for their security problems is
unacceptable.
Scott McNeely will love this: If a car has seat-belts then the occupants must
use the seat-belts to accrue their value. Windows is a Corvair - no seat
belts and "Unsafe At Any Speed". At least *nix has seat-belts. OpenBSD comes
with air-bags, roll-bars, reinforced doors, break-away panels, 5-point
occupant restraints, and independent safety certifications.
Where does your malware want to go today? Anywhere it damn well wants to.
