Try, as root, running the (graphical) program "menudrake". There, click on
"Save", wait until it ends saving, and exit the program. There's a bug on the

Did you install absolutely everything? Launch "rpmdrake" as root and install:
OpenOffice
K3B
Kmail
Konsole
... and any other applications you might need. On MDK 9.2, many programs that
used to be together in one single huge package, are now divided among many
smaller packages.

Define "Configure the desktop"
What is your desktop?
how are you trying to configure it?
How is it related "desktop configuration" with "software installation"?

Updated.... from 9.1 to 9.2 ? when you updated 9.2 with recent updated
packages? have you updated your MDK 9.2 ? There's been like 200MB of updates
last week...
