Gaim worked on any Linux until Micrososft switched communication 
protocols. Now you need Gaim 0.71/0.72 and a GTK-2 (Gnome 2) based 
system.

On my MDK 9.1 and MDK 9.2 systems, Gaim 0.72 works beautifully while 
using MS-MSN and jabber.

On MDK 9.0, as it uses GTK-1 (Gnome 1.4), Gaim 0.72 cannot be installed 
unless there's a Major PITA work, that is, uprgading the whole Gnome 
thing.

1. Unisntall Gaim (urpme gaim)
2. Download Gaim 0.72 for Mandrake from http://www.gaim.org
3. install that rpm with urpmi
4. Be merry
