I don't have your answer but will throw in a word of caution.
WebSphere 5 Enterprise Edition on Red Hat 9 has been a huge been strugle 
to install earlier this week.  I still have not been successful. 
However, It installed flawlessly on a RHLAS 2.1 box.

Same goes for my Visual SlickEdit copy, it requires an old Glib.so.6 
binary and a special start script to run on RH9.

Just be sure everything you need runs on the new libraries before you 
plunk down more $$$.
