[TriLUG] upgrade BIOS on old PCs?

I wouldn't sweat the bios upgrade unless your OS is having specific problems properly identifying and configuring your hardware.
That being said, 486's can make good dhcp, dns, web (static content) servers, or firewalls for a home or small office.

p.s. I serve up web on a 486 66mhz w/20mg and a 212mb hard drive.  It's no speed demon, but hasn't failed me yet.
