Ok, that makes sense. You didn't mention thin clients before, iirc.

Did you try to figure out what was using OpenGL? I find it hard to
believe that you can't use KDE unless you have OpenGL working. There's
just no need for it in a standard windowing environment. Specific
applications, yes, and I do know that KDE has support for it, but then
again, so does Gnome. So, I'm still confused. It would seem easier
to me to figure out what application was generating the error message
and either a) disable that or b) see if there's some way to modify
it to not do that before completely ditching KDE. Please help me understand
here. Thanks.
