[TriLUG] RH9, 2.6 and a laptop

Being a masochist, I've updated my RH9 laptop with the 2.6 kernel. I've
got everything working, but have some minor issues that I was hoping to
find some help on.

1) My pcmcia wireless card is not getting started during boot. The
pcmcia service is running and eth0 is sitting there, but 'ifup eth0' was
not called. I've looked through the hotplug and pcmcia scripts, but
can't figure out where the short circuit is occurring.

2) This is a strange one. I use the laptop with a USB keyboard at work.
When I'm in textmode, the backslash/pipe key doesn't work or ,if X is
running, sends me to the graphical console. There is no way to type '|',
which is very annoying. In X, it works fine, as you can from the
previous sentence. I've googled on this and found some references to it
happening with Japanese keyboards, but not much else.

All in all, everything is working. Once in graphical mode and I've
manually brought up the NIC, everything is good. I can't comment on
performance gains or much else as I haven't had much time to play. I
just wanted to try 2.6.

Have a good one,
Ken
