Install Knoppix to HDD.  Piece of cake.  Everything works and you get
all the other advantages of Debian too.  No need to get the tatoo
removed.

If you doing a server you should just do the netinstall using the first
disk of the ISO set.  I used wget -c and find the best performing mirror
to get the first .iso image.  You'll need broadband for the netinstall.

If you load Knoppix to HDD you'll need to do:
apt-get update
apt-get -u upgrade

sometime soon after getting things running.  Having a broadband
connection is good for that too.
