ok, i have four jobs to do today (including setting up a master DNS server
populated by zones transferred via rsync) so i'll make this brief. and
someone mentioned something a presentation tonight as well...

i've been fairly active with trilug for the past couple or three years.
generally i've managed to attend most of the monthly meetings,
installfests, hamfests, lunchfests, irc-fests, and whatnot. in addition i
did a trilug presentation and class last year on setting up a linux mail
server. and somewhere along the way i managed to start up and operate a
relatively successful linux-based business. throughout all of this the
one thing that really sticks out in my mind is that linux is truly
successful because of the community of people that stand behind it,
believe in it, and work to make it better. while i can't claim to be
nearly the technical equal of some trilug members, the one area where i'd
like to make my mark is to help ensure that trilug remains a great virtual
(and increasingly non-virtual) community where everyone feels welcome. a
community that satisfies the needs of linux rookies just interested in
learning what the fuss is all about, and more experienced people who want
to further their skills. translated into real terms, that means trying to
hold classes on a regular basis, having the occational "intro to linux"
seminar for newbies, maybe even reaching out to the business community to
let all the PHBs of the world know that linux exists and is for real.

ok, time to get back to work, but i hope to see everyone tonight!

peace, love, and linux,

jason tower
