[TriLUG] Series 2 TIVO mods?

I recently did exactly this to a Series 2 Directv TiVo. The problem is that
the startup sequence checks for any modifications and such, and so you cannot
just mount the drive and start making changes. The process for getting them
hacked is fairly elaborate to disable the security measures and encryption.

I also used the latest version of the sleeper iso, which is now called
tivoscripts1_02.iso. I went through and just did most of the defaults.

I also suggest reading the following to get some understanding of what that
iso will do.

Definitely leave your original tivo drive untouched and copy everything onto a
larger drive. The above scripts will take care of that for you.

I was able to purchase a Belkin F5D5050 USB adapter for $11 shipped from some
random place online, and it works great.

Happy hacking!

Michael
