Xandros Desktop Business 2.5 shipped with CrossOver 3.0.1 as one of the
built-in packages. I did have significant trouble installing MS Office XP
(don't ask -- my wife requires it over Star Office). I had to follow a
bunch of threads from Microsoft about known installation bugs (on a native
MS-Win system) and upgrade patches and manually edit registry settings.
Once I got MS-Ofc XP installed though, installing and running the Quicken
products worked like a champ.
I posted on the Xandros forums, under "Re: MS Ofc XP on CrossOver" posted
on 'Wed Oct 27, 2004 11:58 pm' a long explanation of what I did to get it
to work. I also forwarded it to Codeweavers, and they promised me that
they would address the problem (at least partially) in X-Ofc 4.0.
When I ordered and installed another copy of X-Ofc-3.0.1 from CodeWeavers
for my Mandrake 10.0 system, I went through the same steps to get MS-Ofc
to install -- even though I wasn't going to be using it. I also peeked
at some of the installation settings the Xandros system used and tweaked
to match. From there QuickBooks Pro 2003 and TaxCut 2003 installed and
ran just fine.
{ I'll send a copy of the detailed posting to you personally offline.
Anyone else interested in a copy, just email me. }
