[TriLUG] official Linux on a laptop for under $500?

There are definitely deals out there: my daughter just
paid $599 for a 12-inch iBook at the local Apple
retail store. 

Brand new, but a discontinued model. 

Runs OS/X. 

I chipped in for a wi-fi card. ("Gee, dad, thanks a
lot!")
