unless you're an active gamer (and you don't sound like you are) pretty 
much any ati or nvidia card made in the past three years will probably 
be more than adequate for your needs.  newegg has a big selection of 
refurb cards for around $50 that have DVI output, that's where i'd go.  
if you're more concerned about prformance, go with nvidia.  if you're 
more concerned about open source, go with ati.
