You won't need special tools, for the most part, but you will need an 
adventurous spirit and a large, clean work surface with a good way to 
organize lots of different types of screws.  Having done laptop repair 
professionally for many years, I've yet to find something I couldn't 
take apart with enough time.  Just go slowly, and don't use too much 
force.  :)
