[TriLUG] WXGA laptops and 1280x1024

Does anybody know if xorg supports 1280x1024 on WXGA ( 1280x800)
laptops by display panning ( by this i mean that the display
shows only 1280x800 at a time, but the frame buffer is 1280x1024,
and your viewable portion can be moved when the mouse pointer
moves up and down the screen).
