Have you looked at the Mandrake Move CD?  It is a complete Linux
system that runs from the CD only.  It doesn't matter what operating
system you have, pop in the CD, reboot (using the cd for boot), and
voila! you have a full functioning Linux system running on your PC. 
You can even access files from your system.  It also comes with
openoffice, k3b, the gimp, konqueror, etc... If you use a USB key with
the CD you can save settings from seesion to session.  I'm not sure if
you can download it without joining the Mandrakeclub at the Silver
level or above.  If you don't want to go to that trouble I may can
burn you a copy.  I'm pretty sure I get it as a freebie.
