[TriLUG] OT: maps.google.com satellite maps

Fascinating.

Being a denizen of the DC area, I thought it would be neat to see some
of the monuments downtown in google satellite maps. The Capitol
building is artificially pixelated, as are all of the congressional
office buildings around it.

But nothing else.

The Library of Congress is sharp, so is the Supreme Court and the White
House. All the monuments are clear, as is Union Station, RFK Stadium,
even the Pentagon. Reagan National Airport shows planes clear enough to
tell what kind they are (if you're a plane geek.)

Only Congress is so paranoid.

Incidentally, searching for "ground zero" gets you a place in Maryland.
"Ground zero, NYC" gets closer, but is far too far uptown. The tenth
item, "Millenium Hilton" is right next to it.

A search for "Undisclosed location" marks a handful of places around DC.
