I moved to Tbird from Evolution because of the agressive caching of both
headers and bodies by Evo.  It's nuts to have an IMAP store holding your
email, *and* end up with most of the same data in your evolution
directory over time, and duplicated if you use multiple computers
regularly (home/work, for example).

I'm an email packrat and have several hundred MBs of email archives.
Trolling it in Evolution was just too payful and costly in disk space.

Tbird works much better for me!
