uClinux was originally designed to run on the Palm (specifically,
on the Motorola Dragonball processor). It's not the same as a
"normal" Linux distro. Instead, it's more like an embedded OS
like vxWorks. They made substantial changes to the kernel to
allow it to run in a flat memory space with no MMU. But you
can run a shell, and it's fairly easy (according to them) to port
apps to run under uClinux.
The name "uClinux" comes from "uC" meaning micro-controller.
