Not so much that Gentoo couldn't run well or work well on a laptop.
It's just a matter of what I use my laptop for and what I use my desktop
for. My laptop is something that I need to be "no hassle", or "it just
works". However, I love playing with the details too, which is great
for something like my desktop. It really just has to do with why I use
each of my machines. I am certainly not knocking Gentoo in any way
either, I absolutely love that system. You learn so much about Linux
from managing it and installing it - it would take a long time for me to
learn that stuff otherwise. So yeah, no difference in managing, just
differences in purposes of the systems :)
