[TriLUG] 3rd question of the day: Linux webcams

Heh.. .well, these are different projects. The helmet-cam thing may
have died after some concerns raised from the security and evnironment
safety departments. Pitty.

However, this webcam project is totally differnet. This is part of my
on-going 802.11 nightmare on the Outer Banks. As you can see, the
currently connected (and used and abused) QuickCam is not provided the
best of resolutions:

The system is running Debian Sarge and I've read that, yes, with a
certain kabooki dance it is possible to get 800x600 out of this
Quickcam, but I really wanted something a bit more plug and play.

There is no motion capture to worry about, just a once-a-minute
picture that will be thumbnailed via convert and linked to the larger
picture. And the photos are going to an honest-to-goodness full-sized
desktop running a simple web server (and a SSH server).
