[TriLUG] backup questions

I like the rsync style backup. I am considering dirvish or rsnapshot as a backup solution for 3 nix machines. 
Is one better than the other? Why? Also, I have one windows box and I am considering using "NasBackup" for it. Anyone use NasBackup before? Opinions?

On a more logistical note.  If I want to do a full backup, would I backup /proc or /dev? Are there any other 
special directories that need specialconsideration?

And finally, hypothetically speaking, if I have a total system meltdown, what is the best way to restore from 
an rsync backup that is stored on another system(boot off of liveCD)?
