Yep, doesn't that old cheer go:

Two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar...

A nice arithmetic progression that, this might be the source of one or more 
questions for SOME certification test. <G>

Of course the kind of bits we usually work with are worth considerably less 
than 1/8 of a buck, depending on whether they are realized in RAM, flash, 
rotating magnetic media, optical media, etc. etc. etc.
