[TriLUG] GRUB Loading stage2...

Yes, /boot/grub/stage2 exists.

Googling on the problem led me to some info that suggested the grub
installation program, for an unknown reason, may not have run correctly.
The suggestion was to re-run the grub installation program. After doing
so, the system booted to a screen that says:

Grub loading Stage 1.5

Grub loading, please wait...

The system again appears to hang at this point.

Here is what my grub.conf file looks like:

#boot=/dev/hda
default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
password --md5 ...
title CentOS-3 (2.4.21-37.EL)
         root (hd0,0)
         kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.21-37.EL ro root=LABEL=/
         initrd /initrd-2.4.21-37.EL.img
