While I have no problem with hosted..they don't have redundant GB
connections...they have 1 fibre connection from Cary to Raleigh, but only
have it at a notch above OC3, maybe 200Mb/s, the other links are just OC3's
(155Mb/s). We were with Hosted up until 6 months ago, our main reason for
leaving was that they went from 8 years 100% uptime to two outages in less
then a year and were slow to get a damage report so we (and our customers)
were sitting in the dark waiting for an explaination. We are now with
Peak10 and feel that they are an equally able managed solution. They have 5
locations throughout the southeast all interconnected with OC3's. Compared
to the Cary facility of hosted they have a lot more raised floor space
available.
If you're interested, I go to church with a guy who does co-lo out of Level
3's facility in North Raleigh. If not for the fact that it's an unmanned
facility we would be there right now. You can get a 100MB connection right
to level 3's network. They are a carrier grade facility, so they only
provide battery backup over DC power, but even a weak UPS can tide you over
until the generator kicks in.
