Yeah, its an interesting project. A geek labor of love: no practical 
value! I want to do it just to see if it can be done.

To answer your question, the box needs no real storage. It'll be a 
streaming server of sorts. I'm thinking a WRT54G-ish box with audio 
inputs would be perfect.
