So, not to start a flamewar, but... I'd like to hear some
(informed) opinions on which web application framework you
would recommend for "green field" development. Some
candidates I'd consider (although feel free to name others) are:
0. no framework, do it by hand you lazy bum
1. Struts + Tiles
2. Tapestry
3. Webwork
4. JSF
5. Spring MVC
6. Turbine
7. Cocoon
8. Wicket
9. Other???
Note: For various reasons, Java is the only real choice
for language, which is why RoR is not listed. That and
I don't know Ruby and don't have time to learn another
language at the moment.
FWIW, Struts is the only one of these (well, other
than option 0) that I've worked with... so if you
recommend something else, I'd like to hear some
persuasive argument why that choice is better than
Struts, and why it would be worth my investing the
time to learn a different framework.
TTYL,
Phil
