[TriLUG] Tape problem, blocking on last read() call

I have a CentOS 3.6 box, a Dell PowerEdge 2650, with a new Exabyte
Magnum 1x7 LTO-3 tape library attached.  Accessing the unit using mt or
mtx works fine, but any program (dd, tar, bacula's btape, etc.) reading
from the tape drive hangs trying to read() the last bit of the current
file from the tape. :-(

I'm going to be using this with bacula, which has performed quite well
in the past, but this hang problem is driving me nuts.

System: Centos 3.6
Kernel:  2.4.21-37.EL
Machine: Dell PowerEdge 2650
Tape:  Exabyte Magnum 1x7 LTO-3

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
