Well after some more research, it looks like kaffe does not support
JIT on PPC. That explains the speed problems I am seeing. Doubling
tomcat's memory got the admin system working. Maybe the lack of JIT
also causes memory problems
The IBM JVM looks interesting. I am still trying to find the right
combination of buttons to push to download it...
