[TriLUG] Multimedia on SuSE 10 Laptop

Whenever I have had this problem it was caused by the device names not
be standardized. One player tries to play to /dev/something and the
other plays to /dev/somethingelse.

I either modify the app that doesn't work to point to the same device as
the one that is working - or I create a link for the bogus device so
that it points to the one that is now working.

It's simple to look at that and easy to fix so that would be my first
stop.

Good Luck - Jon

So, after a google search I found a page (www.thejemreport.com) which listed steps necessary to add dvd playback to SuSE 10. I added the necessary sources and installed the packages suggested using YAST. Put a dvd in and it works.

The playlist windows shows the filename, but none of the tag info and the length field has a question mark. I try to play the same mp3 in RealPlayer. It works just fine.
