Indeed. If using a knife is too scary then using a very sharp flat-head
screw driver is just about as good. My old nemesis Bill used to take a
small hammer and drive a flat head screw driver into the soft metal of
stripped screws. Heavy handed but it always worked for him... though I
often wondered what else he broke while trying to "fix" those laptops.
