[TriLUG] surveillance/security camera

I'm going to install ZoneMinder this week at the campground I support. They
have a hand full of cameras from Axis, a 205, 206W, 211, and a 213 PTZ.
I'll be setting up the system for motion detection, etc. I like how
Zoneminder allows you to view four cameras (or more) via a web browsers as
opposed to the Axis ACE software that allows you to do the same, but only on
a Windows platform using their software with a $100 license. Plus
Zoneminder looks like it does a whole lot more.

All that said, if you are looking for something more simple and you have
only one camera I'd recommend going with good, old motion (on debian install
by using "apt-get motion") and it will take are of just about everything for
you except for the config file and there are plenty of examples on the
motion website for that. I used motion at my house last year while I was in
Europe. I wanted to see what the dogs were up to during the day and it was
great for that. I then used the linux utility "convert" to assemble all the
screen captures into a quick mpeg movie. That was all kinds of fun.
