Wow, you guys are bringing back old memories. Politics aside, my Dad
used to be CTO for WCPSS, but he retired near 10 years ago from that
post (Ages ago in terms of IT). I remember going into the main frame
rooms with him, 55 degrees F, raised floor, massive row after row of
machine with tape reels spinning about 15-20 years ago. I wonder if
they still have any of those in use? ROFL! I will say this, there
was a lot of nasty politics concerning WCPSS and IBM back then. I
haven't heard much of what has gone on since then, but as someone else
mentioned earlier, ya, WCPSS and IBM used to be in bed together, if
they still are... *shrugs* Back in an earlier IT job in my career I
helped put together the technology and computers into classrooms at SE
Raleigh High. They were IBM desktops with Win95 running on them with
some IBM app overlayed on top of the windows desktop system so you
couldn't actually access the real desktop. This was in 1997.

Oracle licensing is outrageous and Oracle should be boycotted. As you
might have figured out, I don't like Oracle. :)
