[TriLUG] Squashfs - RHEL 3/4 - Are they Oil and Vinegar?

I need to roll SquashFS into a RHEL 3/4. However, I have a non-source 
binary for a SCSI controller that is for the RHEL 4 U2 stock kernel for 
4 (haven't tried 3 yet). However, SquashFS 3.0 doesn't support the 2.6.9 
kernel, it supports the 2.6.8 and the 2.6.10...ugh.

Anyway, they suggest you use the "kernel that's closest to yours if 
yours is not listed"...I've tried patch/fuzzing 2.6.8 and 2.6.10 
patches...no go...

Any suggestions?
