eww... dunno then.. might just be easier to set up something like
http://www.royalaccess.com/fidentd/
or
http://freshmeat.net/redir/fakeidentd/2550/url_tgz/identd.c
this will just answer the query and the pop server will go ahead (hopefully)
and not have to timeout waiting for a server thats not there.
