ACC Staffing is seeking a Linux/Unix Systems Administrator for a permanent
opportunity in RTP.  Qualified candidates may send a Word copy of their

Essential Responsibilities
. Performs activities required to deploy and support Unix and Linux servers
running both Internet-facing and back-end production applications requiring
24x7 availability:
*  Project planning and application architecture
*  System sizing, configuration planning, and procurement
*  Hardware installation and maintenance, including lifting up to 50lbs to
heights of up to 6ft
*  Installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating system and
other software
*  Configuration and management of system and application monitoring
*  System and network security configuration and management
*  Identification, diagnosis, and resolution of system and network problems
. Primary responsibility for the configuration and management of Linux
Redhat systems running DB2 databases
. Keep abreast of new technologies and recommend adoption as appropriate
. Identify areas for automation of other process improvement, make best
practice recommendations and plan and lead implementation projects
. Work with database administrators to maintain performance and availability
of the databases
.  Participate in team on-call rotation



Additional Responsibilities
. Configuration and maintenance of Cisco firewalls and load balancers
. Ensure the proper completion of system backups
. Assist in establishing and enhancing regulatory and compliance processes
. Maintenance of asset information and other documentation

. Working knowledge of Windows and ORACLE databases
. Other duties and tasks as assigned



Required Experience and Skills
. Ability to understand systems from all levels, from the "big picture"
enterprise-level view to the low level technical view
. Experience working on technical projects, including planning,
documentation, and implementation
. Configuration and administration of servers running recent Linux Redhat
releases
. Configuration and management of clustered Linux systems.
. Automation of system build, maintenance, and operation processes using
shell and Perl scripts
. Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, including routing, switching,
and common network protocols
. Demonstrated ability to systematically troubleshoot problems in complex
systems and network environments
. Working knowledge of Cisco networking equipment and IP Tables firewalls.
. Understanding of SNMP and familiarity with system and network monitoring
tools
. Solid understanding of network and system security principles and
techniques
. Working knowledge of firewall and VPN concepts and technologies
. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments in an environment
that requires multitasking among multiple concurrent projects while also
handling interrupts
. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communications and documentation
skills



Qualifications

. Minimum 5 years experience administering Unix and Linux systems in
mission-critical, 7x24 production environments
. Minimum 3 years administering web hosting components and infrastructure,
including web servers, application servers, load balancers, mail and DNS
servers and Cisco components.
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent
experience)
