[TriLUG] Linux Core 2 Duo problems

Here's a complete shot in the dark for more suggestions. I'd play with
the IDE BIOS settings. I think you have options like having the
IDE/SATA drives combined or having them separate. I don't have an Intel
mobo on hand to see exactly what the settings are called or possible
values, but somewhere under the IDE chipset settings, I think the
options are IDE, SATA, and IDE/SATA. Play with the different values and
see if you can make it work. As I understand the theory, SATA CDROM
drives aren't supported very well in Linux, and if the mobo chipset
reports to Linux that it's acting as a SATA CDROM drive, it won't work.
I came across a similar problem this spring building a D930 system on a
975X chipset.

As for the video settings, I'd assume that if you can get the proper ATI
drivers (assuming there are linux drivers available for that model), you
should be able to get a decent resolution. The last time I tried
building a linux box with an ATI video card, it wasn't supported yet so
I turned around and bought an nVidia card.

Good luck.
