I also found many complaints (including an Ubuntu bug report -- 
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/bacula/+bug/65784 ), but no 
solutions.  If you want to use apt-get to install it, you will probably 
have to temporarily remove the root password in MySQL.  Otherwise you 
will have to build from source.

Once you have it installed, you can set the mysql password in bacula.conf.
