Hi Folks,
      It's time for the bi-annual post to the list about the North Carolina
GIS conference.

  The conference is once again in Winston-Salem Thursday and Friday March
1-2.  Among the open source - related presentations:

“Texas Mesonet: Processing Large Datasets in Real Time,” Gerry Creager,
Texas A&M University  -  http://mesonet.tamu.edu/ ( Postgresql, postgis,
UMN mapserver)
“Developing the NCCOOS Coastal Data Viewer:  Challenges in Real Time Marine
GIS,” Jesse Cleary, UNC Chapel Hill

“Southeastern Gap Analysis:  Products and Accessibility,” Alexa McKerrow
and Steven Williams, NC State University  ( GRASS, Postgresql, Postgis)

“OpenGIS Web Services and Service Oriented Architecture,” Tobin Bradley,
GISP, Mecklenburg County

Panel: “A Whirl-Wind Survey of Free and Open Source GIS Solutions,”
Featuring -  GRASS, Postgis, PrimaGIS, Cartoweb, Community Mapbuilder and
more.

 “EcoNet: NC's Environment and Climate Network for Real-Time Weather
Monitoring,” Ryan Boyles, NC State University


This last one is not open source, but really cool if you're wondering about
how sea level rise will affect the NC coast.


“Climate Change and the North Carolina Coastal System:  Past, Present, and
Future,” Stan Riggs, East Carolina University
