The only store that ever really pressed this issue with me was Radio 
Shack. That was probably about 10 years ago and I haven't shopped there 
since.  I left those goods on the counter without paying for them.  Just 
snatched my unscanned credit card from them and walked out of the store.

Sometimes if I'm feeling snippy I'll instead answer with "Yours first" 
but I feel dishonest using that one because it implies that I will 
reciprocate and I really have no intention of doing so.

If the clerk is a cute girl you can try playing the smooth operator and 
smile and say "What's yours?" but this never ends well.

Arguing about it though never seemed to be worthwhile to me.  Either 
they take my first polite "no" as an answer or I refuse the terms of the 
transaction and walk away from it.
