Linksys makes some cheap ones. The SRW2008 , and SRW2016 are 8 and 16
port managed gigabit switches, with a web interface if you like that
sort of thing. CDW lists them for $240 and $350. I've used the
SRW2024 and it isn't bad. I'm not sure about the noise level if that
is an issue for your home use, I believe the 24 and 48 port ones are
pretty loud.
