[TriLUG] SMP, Intel Pentium D CPU, single core ????????

Yep, I have this processor in an HP Media Center PC - certainly is
dual core.  And as Robert said it is not to be confused with Core2 Duo
or even Core Duo.  Both would blow the doors off this PC.  And there
is no hyperthreading feature in the Pentium D 820.
