Why not?

I've used 3Ware SATA RAID at $WORK and it's great, for what it is.  If 
you want big, cheap, fast, reliable it seems to be the perfect solution. 
  SATA has gotten a lot better since the last time I've used it at $WORK 
so you can probable add "fast" to that list of positive attributes.
