I usually ride the Wolfline to my job at NC State and take the CAT when
Wolfline is not running. I still have a NCSU parking permit for days
that I need a car for dental appts, etc. I take the bus for several
reasons, save money (my gas bill is half or less than half of when I
drive every day), it's good for the environment, and I get a little
exercise. I do pay a penalty though. I can drive it in less than 10
minutes but it takes ~25 minutes to walk to the bus stop and wait on the
bus and ride it in. So I leave home earlier and get home later than if I
drive. Will I change to driving all the time, no. Mass transit needs a
large influx of money though. If we spent on mass transit at the same
level that we do on roads and airports we would have a mass transit
system that would be better than any other in the world. Also, take a
look at the article in the N&O today on the declining funds for roads
from the government because the federal gas tax has not increased in
many years.
