Sorry, I can't help you on scripts. Each time I look at some gentoo 
stuff, there is always wordings that don't match with the Linux that I 
am familiar with. Perhaps I should broaden my horizons a little. I know 
that there are several that frequent this list that are familiar with 
scripts and gentoo, but I am new to gentoo.
